Key Responsibilities:Meet with Design Leads & Project Leads to develop conceptual designs (e.g. redline meetings), identify potential design issues and applicable codes
Prepare, assist with, and/or review design briefs, drawings, and specifications
Assist and/or review equipment design costs and comparisons
Serve as a technical advisor to the project team
Conduct engineering reviews for accuracy, adequacy, and code compliance; seal your own work and that of team members
Ensure timely, on-budget project delivery; set milestones and perform progress reviews
Issue alternative design solutions and respond to permit comments
Assist with project hand-off to Construction Services team, including review of verification requirements and critical items
Provide construction support and perform site reviews as needed
Review site reports, provide feedback on noted observations/deficiencies
Perform project verification and prepare occupancy letters
Conduct site visits to verify systems are installed and operating per specifications
Communicate with clients, other engineering disciplines, contractors, manufacturers, and stakeholders
Mentor and support junior team members
Assist with the continuous development and improvement of mechanical design standards
Perform other duties as assigned by the Mechanical Division Manager or team members
Bachelors or Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited Canadian University (or equivalent)
Licensed Professional Engineer with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)
8+ years of experience in mechanical engineering related to HVAC & plumbing in construction
Strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards (e.g., OBC, CSA, ASHRAE)
Experience with mechanical systems in multi-unit residential buildings or similar projects
Experience working with private sector developers is an asset
Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and AutoCAD
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
