Crisis Response Worker - Outreach Mobile Support Team
One Full-Time Contract to June 1, 2026 (with the possibility of extension or becoming permanent)
  • Location: Aurora, Ontario L4G3S9
    • must be within a commutable daily distance from the office and/or service area
  • Status: Contract, Full-Time
  • Starting Hourly Rate: $34.95 / Hour
  • Office Hours: Monday - Friday - 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, 35 Hours per week
  • Office Expectations; Work in the office to provide team coverage, minimum once per month in addition to in-office meetings, trainings, and supervisions

Day, Evening and Weekends required
You will be responsible for engaging with individuals, families and groups who are currently under-represented in the area. You will be working in partnership with the YSSN Community Outreach and Engagement Crisis Worker and local community organizations to improve relations between marginalized communities and community mental health services and increase awareness on mental health services, while increasing community participation and reducing isolation.
In addition to broader community outreach initiatives, you will also be responsible for providing one-on-one support to individuals who have been identified through your outreach efforts or by YSSN crisis services (including but not limited to the Mobile Crisis Response Team, local hospitals and Call Diversion Unit) as individuals who could benefit from in person follow-up supports from a qualified crisis worker.
Community engagement is essentially a relational process that occurs at a local level. It involves professionals who represent services and service systems building personal relationships with community members and groups, based on mutual trust and respect

Position Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in social work or related discipline (i.e. Health Sciences)
  • Experience;
    • Minimum three years related experience
    • Experience with community outreach and engagement
    • Knowledge and practice of short-term urgent response, psychosocial rehabilitation approach and advanced clinical, crisis and assessment skills are assets
    • Have extensive knowledge of existing community services and networks
    • Experience working with individuals having a serious mental illness is essential
    • Crisis skills for adults and children experiencing a mental health crisis are desirable
    • Be committed to engaging with difficult to reach and underserved populations
    • Demonstrate strong aptitude for creativity and out-of-the box thinking and willingness to explore new and unique ways of service delivery
    • Completion of CPI, CPR and ASIST training as per agency guidelines
    • Be skilled at working independently and be comfortable working within a multidisciplinary team
    • Excellent Communication skills
    • Knowledge of the local service system is essential
  • Be available to work: days, evenings and weekends as required, and remain flexible to work after hours
  • Knowledge and experience with Indigenous cultural practices are assetsA second language is considered an asset
  • An understanding of cultural diversity is considered an asset
