Job Summary:
The Intermediate Control Systems Specialist is primarily responsible for the technical aspects of projects, which at times may also include project management responsibilities. This position will be supported and directed by a Team Lead, who is the first point of contact for support, scheduling, and development.
Responsibilities:
- Uphold company policies and procedures according to the Health & Safety Program and Team Handbook.
- Execute, support others, and lead technical tasks including:
- Electrical and Fluid Power Designs (EPLAN, AutoCAD)
- PLC & HMI Software Development (Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider, Omron, Toyopuc)
- Robot Programming and Setup (ABB, Fanuc, Motoman, Nachi, Kuka)
- Motion Control Systems (Rockwell, Siemens, Bosch)
- Peripheral systems (vision systems, marking systems, weld systems)
- Participate in stand-ups, work planning, and technical reviews.
- Utilize Jira for progress updates, collaboration, mentorship, and ticket management.
- Manage client relationships and project scope under the direction of Team Leads or Managers.
- Participate in or lead commissioning, testing, and debugging of automation systems.
- Ensure accurate and complete project documentation.
- Promote efficiencies and continuous improvement.
- Stay current with applicable standards, codes, and rules.
- Engage in initiatives to share knowledge and support team development.
- Maintain and develop technical knowledge through training and industry events.
- Utilize non-chargeable time efficiently through approved activities.
- Identify potential projects and opportunities for RidgeTech Automation.
- Perform other relevant tasks as assigned.
Requirements:
- Valid Class G drivers license and valid passport.
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel abroad without restrictions.
- Degree/diploma in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, or Robotics & Automation.
- 3-5 years of experience in controls and automation.
- Strong mechanical and electrical skills.
- Effective internal/external communication.
- Ability to work independently and coach others as part of a team.
- Initiative to learn and grow in the automation industry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, SharePoint, Teams, etc.).
- Experience and willingness to work with various vendor hardware/software.
- Strong problem-solving, task ownership, and time management skills.
- Highly motivated and posses a positive attitude.

Working Conditions
- This is a full-time position. Additional hours based on client requirements, will be compensated according to company policy (i.e. overtime, double time, etc.).
- After hours or weekend on site client support will be required, depending on the project schedules.
- Team Members must be able to work from the office in Cambridge, Ontario and various client sites.
- This position requires local and international travel, depending on project requirements.
- RTA focuses on a local workload (1-2 hour radius/100km radius of the Cambridge office). Daily travel to site should be expected.
- Travel outside of this area may arise for additional projects, training, or to support other opportunities.
- Locations and length of travel will vary depending on the projects and workloads at any given time.
