Job Description:
Vipond, Edmonton is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Large Contracts Fire Sprinkler Estimator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fire sprinkler system estimation, design experience, and the ability to handle a wide range of estimates from straight forward add & relocate jobs to complex industrial and commercial new builds.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for fire sprinkler systems including materials, labor, and equipment.
- Manage multiple estimation projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
- Prepare accurate and detailed tender drawings
- Review and interpret drawings, specifications, and project plans to provide accurate and competitive bids.
- Explore alternative solution options that best fit our clients' needs
- Conduct site visits and assessments to gather necessary information for accurate estimation.
- Travel to remote sites / locations as part of project walkthroughs as necessary
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and others involved to ensure project specifications are met.
- Stay up-to-date with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Foster strong relationships with clients, contractors, and suppliers.
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior estimators, internal and external customers.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of proven fire protection / fire sprinkler contracting experience with focus on large contracts.
- Strong understanding of the Alberta / British Columbia Building code and the NFPA 10,11, 13/R, 14, 15, 15, 16, 20,
- Ability to produce detailed and accurate estimates for a variety of project types, from simple add & relocate jobs to complicated industrial and commercial builds.
- Proficient in utilizing various estimation software and tools (Vipond will provide necessary training through our onboarding process)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong design experience with comprehensive knowledge of codes, and standards.
- Experience and familiarity with special hazards / NFPA 2001
- Experience and familiarity with fire alarms / NFPA 72
- Experience with design software such as AutoCAD, HydraCAD, Autosprink, REVIT, Navisworks or similar tools.
- NICET certification in Water-Based System Layout
- Post-secondary diploma in fire protection engineering-technology, construction management, or a related field.
