POSITION OVERVIEW

The Intermediate Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Designer supports all aspects of instrumentation and control systems design across various Oil & Gas and industrial projects. This position collaborates closely with engineers, project managers, and multidiscipline teams in an EPCM environment, contributing to detailed design packages, vendor coordination, and drawing development for control systems, field instrumentation, and related infrastructure.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

May include but are not limited to:

  • Assist engineers with instrumentation and control system design, layout, and drafting requirements
  • Prepare and update instrument loop drawings, wiring diagrams, junction box layouts, and cable schedules
  • Develop and maintain instrument index, I/O lists, and control panel layouts
  • Support design reviews by ensuring accuracy and compliance with project specifications and industry standards
  • Coordinate with vendors to integrate datasheets, drawings, and specifications into design deliverables
  • Interpret P&IDs to identify instrumentation requirements and support installation planning
  • Adhere to Lauren's policies and procedures related to health & safety and quality management systems
  • Follow drafting standards, engineering workflows, and document control guidelines
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors to support project needs

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma in Instrumentation or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited technical institution
  • 3+ years of instrumentation and control system design experience using AutoCAD
  • 3+ years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry, preferably in an EPCM or industrial project setting
  • Familiarity with control systems (PLC/DCS), instrumentation devices, and control panel layout principles

SKILLS

  • Proficient in AutoCAD; familiarity with CADWorx is an asset
  • Strong understanding of field instrumentation, signal wiring, and loop design
  • Ability to manage drafting assignments across multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills with designers, engineers, and project stakeholders
  • Solid understanding of ISA standards and hazardous area classification concepts
  • Detail-oriented with strong organization and time management abilities
