The Calgary TELUS Convention Centre is looking to hire the position of Senior Manager, Sales in the Sales Department.
Reporting to the Associate Director, Sales, the Senior Manager, Sales plays a dual role as a key contributor to the Centre's sales performance and a supporting leader within the Sales team. This position is responsible for driving business development and revenue growth within an assigned market segment, while also providing mentorship and support to Sales Managers. The Senior Manager supports the Associate Director in the implementation of departmental strategies, upholding high standards of client service, and ensuring effective coordination across internal teams and external clients.
Duties and Responsibilities- Lead business development efforts within an assigned market segment, driving high-impact events to Calgary TELUS Convention Centre (CTCC) and positioning the Centre as Calgary's premier venue for conventions, tradeshows, meetings, and corporate events.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with prospective clients, event organizers, industry partners, and internal stakeholders to grow CTCC's visibility and market share.
- Prepare compelling proposals, presentations, contracts, and invoices while managing the full sales cycle — from lead follow-up to contract finalization and timely payment.
- Represent CTCC at trade shows, conventions, and industry events; host client site visits and familiarization tours to showcase CTCC's offerings and promote Calgary as an event destination.
- Support the Associate Director, Sales in executing strategic initiatives, business plans, and special projects that align with departmental and organizational goals.
- Provide mentorship and day-to-day support to Sales Managers, guiding complex proposals, pricing strategies, negotiations, and onboarding.
- Contribute to a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team culture rooted in shared success, open communication, and mutual accountability.
- Streamline internal processes and contribute to the development of best practices that improve efficiency, reporting accuracy, and service excellence.
- Assist with sales forecasting, performance tracking, and reporting to identify trends and optimize decision-making.
- Support departmental planning, including resource allocation, workload balance, vacation scheduling, and recruitment.
- Maintain accurate records of client interactions, sales activities, and booking details in the CRM/event management system to ensure seamless handoff to Event Management.
- Analyze post-event feedback and performance to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and foster long-term client relationships.
- Collaborate cross-departmentally to ensure a smooth transition from sales to event delivery, ensuring a consistently high standard of service.
- Stay current on industry trends, competitor activity, and local economic conditions to inform sales strategies and strengthen CTCC's market position.
- Assist other market segments as needed, adapting sales approaches to maximize opportunities across multiple business sectors.
- Travel as required for client meetings, business development, and industry events to promote CTCC and Calgary as a top-tier destination.

- Event planning and logistics experience including audiovisual, décor, tradeshow, and catering services would be a definite asset.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills and proficiency in the Microsoft suite of products.
- Previous experience using a CRM/event booking system and event floorplan software, with experience using Ungerboeck (Momentus) a bonus.
- Exceptional attention to detail to ensure accuracy and quality in all aspects of work.

Education- Preferably a post-secondary education in a related field, such as Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, Hospitality, or Event Management.
- Relevant industry certifications or specialized training in sales, event planning, or business development are considered assets.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada.
- 10 years of industry-related experience in a similar position.
