SNCM invites summer students to apply for a unique outreach program role that engages with our local community. As part of this street-front outreach organization, you will experience city life while supporting mostly Indigenous guests with services such as light lunches and weekly traditional circles.
Dylan Nippi, Executive Director, will guide you with a schedule of required tasks and opportunities to shape your summer community plan. Expect to receive daily support, leadership, and supervision, along with First Aid Training and a WCB protocols review. You'll also attend a session on the Leading with Care Policy for children and vulnerable adults before starting your role. A Criminal Record Check is required to be brought to your interview. Additional training and support will be provided as needed throughout the summer.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- The Executive Director will train you to support or expand existing programs during the busy summer months.
- Contribute to SNCM's hospitality by providing simple lunches daily and a hot meal on Fridays.
- Assist with sourcing supplies and gathering resources as needed.
- Organize and maintain the facility by sorting, cleaning, and caring for the space as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with food preparation and service; a Food Safety Course is preferred.
- A driver's license is necessary for acquiring supplies.
- A current criminal record check must be brought to the first interview.
COMPENSATION and RESOURCES
- Employment period: June 17 to August 16 (8 weeks)
- Compensation: $20 an hour based on a 32-hour week.
