Department: Ottawa Newcomer Health Centre part of Primary Health Care (PHC)
Reporting to: Manager, Ottawa Newcomer Health Centre
Compensation: $22.73 - $27.42/hr plus optional pension plan with HOOPP and 14hrs of paid leave.

What Youll Do


The Ottawa Newcomer Clinic (ONHC) is a program of Somerset West Community Health Centre. Somerset West Community Health Centre is a well-established, non-profit, multi-service center providing health, social and community outreach services with an emphasis on health promotion. ONHC is looking for an experienced Medical Office Assistant to work in a complex and busy medical setting, serving a diverse multicultural and socio-economic clientele. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, scheduling appointments, answering phones, medical documentation management, processing mail, scanning, and faxing.

What Were Looking For
* Your Education Path
Post-secondary training for medical office assistant
2-3 years experience in a clinical setting.

* Life and Work Experience
2 years experience in a community-based setting
Knowledge of the Canadian heath care system & social determinants of health
Basic health assessment and interventions, as appropriate
Knowledge of PS Suites an asset


* Linguistic Profile:
Fluency in English, written and spoken mandatory
Fluency in French is highly desirable
Other languages an asset.
