Our client, a Top 5 bank in Canada, is looking to hire a Senior French Translator & Editor for an initial 6-month contract with strong potential for extension or conversion to full-time. This is a hybrid role requiring in-office presence every Wednesday and the 3rd Friday of each month in downtown Toronto.
Translation & Editing Responsibilities
- Translate, review, edit, and proofread French content for mobile apps, online banking, websites, and other digital platforms.
- Ensure translations are accurate, clear, and aligned with brand tone, grammar, and accessibility standards.
- Follow Canadian French language norms and adhere to official language requirements.
- Review content from vendors and internal teams to ensure quality and consistency.
- Help maintain translation processes and support improvements in workflows and tools.
Project & Workflow Management
- Support multiple projects—primarily editing and updating existing content, with some new translation work.
- Work in an agile team environment with developers, business analysts, product owners, content writers, and other translators.
- Manage translation requests efficiently and meet deadlines.
- Contribute to process improvements, including translation tools and terminology management.
Collaboration & Communication
- Collaborate daily with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, agile setting.
- Resolve translation and content-related issues quickly and clearly.
- Share expertise and contribute to improving content quality and workflows.
Must-Have Skills
- Strong English and native-level French proficiency, with an understanding of Canadian French nuances.
- 5+ years of experience in translation/editing, ideally within digital, marketing, or banking environments.
- Familiarity with tools such as Trados Studio, Antidote, Ternium, and similar language resources.
- Experience working in agile software development environments.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG).
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience in the financial or banking sector.
- Familiarity with content style guides and content management tools.
