Position Details
Position Title: Director, Individual Giving (Acquisition & Product)
Employment Type: Full-time Contract (13-month contract with possibility of extension)
Reports to: Vice President, Individual Giving
Direct Reports: 3
Salary Range: $107,000 to $131,000 annually with benefits and 4 weeks paid vacation
Work Location: Toronto
Work Environment: UNICEF Canada currently operates under a Flexible-Hybrid model that requires team members to attend the office at least 2 days/week.

The Opportunity
Ready to lead bold growth in support of a powerful mission? UNICEF Canada is seeking a visionary and results-driven Director, Individual Giving (Acquisition & Product) to help shape the future of individual giving at one of the world's most respected humanitarian organizations.
Reporting to the Vice President, Individual Giving, you will lead the strategy and execution of high-impact, multi-channel fundraising campaigns that drive donor acquisition, engagement, and revenue growth. This is a unique opportunity to blend strategic leadership with hands-on innovation – leveraging both traditional and digital platforms to reach new audiences and deepen supporter relationships.
Key Accountabilities
Acquisition, Product & Partnership Management (50%)
- Develop strategy and business plans for all aspects of the portfolio
- Lead team to develop, execute and manage acquisition campaigns across multiple channels including Direct Dialogue, Digital & Tele-Fundraising.
- Manage all aspects of the product portfolio including symbolic giving, subscriptions, Legacy hand-raisers and Tribute
- Work with key internal stakeholders and external agency partners to execute a robust donor conversion & reactivation program
- Lead all aspects of external partner relationships including reporting, training, quarterly business reviews and annual contract review.
- Provide ongoing KPI evaluation, reporting and results optimization
- Recommend and test new programs to increase market penetration for acquisition activities within Canada leveraging national and international program best practices.
- Work with external and internal partners to use data to acquire quality donors and reduce monthly donor attrition including the first three months of donor lifecycle
- Participate in and/or lead cross functional teams, including the Senior leadership team
- Work in partnership with the Director of Digital Marketing to build comprehensive strategies and business plans to continue to accelerate the growth of Digital donations.
Strategic and Operational Planning (35%)
- Develop and oversee the annual strategic plan and budget for the Individual Giving (Acquisition & Product) portfolio, with a focus on maximizing ROI and aligning with organizational priorities.
- Oversee a complex annual expense budget of $10M+, ensuring accurate monthly financial reporting, forecasting, and reconciliation.
- Lead quarterly and annual revenue and expense forecasting, and present regular performance updates to key stakeholders.
- Consolidate and analyze daily, weekly, and monthly campaign metrics to inform strategy, close performance gaps, and optimize program outcomes.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of KPIs to identify actionable insights and drive continuous improvement.
- Lead annual contract negotiations with external partners and ensure all legal agreements, donor documentation, and financial records are accurate and up to date.
- Monitor industry trends & best practices through collaboration with internal experts, UNICEF Global, and other National Committees (NatComs), recommending and implementing new opportunities for growth.
- Share relevant insights and successful practices with internal and external partners, including UNICEF Global and other NatComs.
People Management (15%)
- Develop an effective, motivated team of three direct reports and all team members to achieve common goals with clearly defined accountabilities which are aligned with overall strategy.
- Conduct annual goal setting as well as quarterly and year end performance reviews for direct reports as established by the organization
- Encourage, coach and foster opportunities for development and personal growth
- Support employee engagement strategies as required.
Qualifications
- Minimum of seven years of relevant experience, with a strong focus on customer or donor acquisition.
- Post-secondary education in Fundraising, Marketing, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong strategic and analytical thinking skills, with solid financial acumen and a deep understanding of the key drivers of donor acquisition ROI and long-term donor value.
- Demonstrated experience in digital marketing, particularly in acquisition-focused campaigns.
- Experience with business planning, budgeting & forecasting.
- Skilled in managing multiple internal and external partners to deliver results-driven programs.
- Experience with contract negotiation and sales training.
- Demonstrated experience planning, executing and measuring successful multichannel direct response marketing campaigns with an innovation and test and learn mindset.
- Excellent project management skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task to deliver quality programs on time and on budget.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated work ethic, with a proactive, results-oriented approach.
- Collaborative and self-motivated team player who values transparency and open communication.
- Genuine interest in and commitment to the mission of UNICEF Canada.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (intermediate level).
- Experience with Raiser's Edge or similar relational databases (an asset).
- Experience with Direct Dialogue (an asset).
