The Youth Mentorship Coach willguide and engage youth, in cultural activities that promote reconnection to the land and revitalization of traditional practices.This role includes developing and delivering culturally based programs, working with Elders and Knowledge Keepers, and fostering cultural awareness and competency.
- Assist with developing curriculum and programming that promotes connect to the land.
- Incorporate land-based practices, protocols and the relationship that promote identity and culture.
- Serve as a positive role model, demonstrate respectful behaviour, cultural pride, and personal integrity in all interactions.
- Inspire youth through consistent mentorship, embodying the value of traditions of the community while promoting positive identity development and responsible decision making.
- Deliver program cultural and educational curriculum as required ensuring content is relevant, age appropriate and aligned with the program goals.
- Travel and supervise the youth to land-based programming sites along the North Shore.
- Provide on-going support and encouragement to the youth that will support their ongoing learning in their culture, language and tradition.
- Engage with Knowledge keepers and Elders.
- Assist the needs of youth and, where necessary, develop land-based activities and resources to support student success.
- Coordinate and collaborate with various Sagamok Departments that will support youth in education and career development.
- Assist with recruitment and selection of students participating in the Youth Mentorship Summer Program for each intake group for July and August 2025.
- Participate in the various culture events and activities.
- Complete wrap up reports and perform otheradministrative duties and tasks.
- Maintain attendance, activities, complete reports, assist with scheduling, coordinate logistics and ensure proper documentation is submitted in a timely fashion.
Must provide a Vulnerable Sector Check that is valid within 6 months.
Maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with Sagamok Anishnawbek policies.
Must have a valid drivers license and vehicle for on-the-job use.
Preference for Post-Secondary Student who is returning in Post-Secondary Institution this Fall 2025 /2026.
Must be willing to research and creative activities that are based on Sagamok Documents: The Community Story, What was Never Told & 10 years Action Plan.
Must have some knowledge in Land Based and Cultural background.
