Job Description

The Labour Relations Advisor will provide on-site support to field-based operations, offering hands-on guidance in union workforce management and the administration of collective bargaining agreements (CBAs).

Working closely with operational leaders, this role ensures the consistent application of labour agreements and supports the implementation of HR processes across unionized teams.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Serve as the primary on-site contact for labour relations, including CBA interpretation and union hall coordination.
  • Support site leadership in managing unionized employee matters such as discipline, grievances, and performance issues.
  • Participate in union-management meetings by recording minutes, tracking action items, and ensuring follow-through.
  • Provide on-site guidance to project teams on Human Resources policies, practices, and compliance.
  • Coordinate onboarding and orientation for union, non-union, and staff personnel.
  • Support workforce engagement and well-being initiatives in collaboration with the broader HR team.
  • Maintain accurate employee data in HRIS and project systems, ensuring timely updates for hires, changes, and terminations.
  • Work closely with payroll to ensure proper union setup, wage alignment, and classification accuracy.
  • Manage document control for labour relations matters and employee records, ensuring proper filing and confidentiality.
  • Assist with collective bargaining prep, compliance audits, and data tracking to support internal and external reporting needs.

Key Qualifications and Skills:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or similar field of study.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in labour relations or human resources within a unionized environment, ideally within the construction or industrial sectors.
  • Strong working knowledge of collective agreements, grievance procedures, and unionized workforce management.
  • Proficient in HR systems and tools, ability to easily navigate different ERP systems, MS Office, and data management software.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively build relationships all stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic field-based setting and effectively management multiple priorities.
