Senior Accountant Canadian Tax
Key Responsibilities:
- Assists clients and team members with complex day-to-day taxation matters and questions.
- Communicates directly with clients and outside professionals on tax work being conducted at the Firm.
- Reviews and finalizes complex personal, trust, and corporate tax returns.
- Prepares, reviews, and finalizes special elections and other tax filings including T1134, T2054, T2057, T2058, T2062, T2091, UHT-2900's, etc.
- Prepares and reviews research memos to support an opinion on sophisticated tax matters.
- Identifies planning opportunities (corporate reorganizations, compensation planning, loss utilization).
- Assists with the planning, implementation and review of corporate reorganization work for clients (estate freezes, purifications, butterflies, rollovers, succession plans, etc.).
- Participates in client meetings regarding tax transactions.
- Prepares quotes or estimates of fees for certain tax engagements.
- Collaborates closely with the Canadian Tax team to achieve continued growth and development of the Firm's services.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Holds CPA designation.
- Only candidates pursuing or having completed, the CPA Canada In-depth Tax Course will be considered.
- Minimum of 1 to 3 years of Canadian tax experience in a Public Accounting Firm.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, client service, and relationship building skills.
- Excellent attention to detail skills with the ability to ensure the accuracy of pertinent financial and tax information.
- Ability to work independently as well as cohesively with a team.
- Must possess a high level of professionalism and integrity.
- Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills.
