What you'll be doing:

  • Leading a team of six engineers responsible for managing observability platforms (e.g., New Relic, PagerDuty, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch) and governing the AWS cloud environment.
  • Driving cost optimization initiatives for observability tools and cloud resources.
  • Providing a best-in-class observability stack to our product and platform teams.
  • Spending approximately 30-40% of your time hands-on, contributing to technical solutions in observability, automation, or cloud governance.
  • Collaborating closely with the Platform Engineering group and Product Development teams to align on priorities and deliverables.
  • Supporting the team in managing major incidents and fostering a site reliability engineering (SRE) mindset.
  • Championing best practices in Terraform, Python, and cloud resource management to maintain and enhance platform reliability.
  • Mentoring and developing team members, ensuring they thrive in their roles.

What we're looking for:

  • Over 5 years of experience with AWS cloud services (deep expertise not required).
  • Familiarity with Terraform for infrastructure as code and Python for automation.
  • Knowledge of observability tools such as New Relic, PagerDuty, and Elasticsearch.
  • Proven success in leading engineering teams, preferably with senior-level engineers.
  • Ability to balance hands-on technical work with strategic leadership responsibilities.
  • Experience with major incident management and driving reliability improvements.
  • Understanding of site reliability engineering principles and how to apply them effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work with cross-functional teams and negotiate mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Experience collaborating with platform engineering and product development teams.
  • Familiarity with cost optimization strategies for cloud and observability tools.
  • Strong organizational and reporting skills to manage security and compliance efforts.
