Electrical Engineering Manager

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Manager to lead our team of designers and estimators in delivering high-quality, cost-effective solutions. This key leadership role focuses on overseeing project estimates and design execution, with a strong preference for candidates with an electrical engineering background, particularly in switchgear systems.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of designers and estimators to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Oversee preparation of detailed project estimates, including labor, materials, and timelines.
  • Develop and implement innovative design concepts aligned with client specifications, budgets, and schedules.
  • Review project requirements to ensure designs comply with industry standards, including electrical codes and switchgear specifications.
  • Collaborate with clients, project managers, engineers, and other departments to refine designs and ensure estimate accuracy.
  • Analyze client needs, providing cost-effective and technically sound solutions.
  • Prepare and review cost estimates for materials, equipment, labor, and related project expenses.
  • Create and review technical documents including but not limited to single line drawings, P&IDs, load lists, equipment lists, layout drawings, schematics, cable schedules, control narrative, specifications, datasheets, scope of work, technical reports and construction work packages.
  • Stay updated on market trends, materials, technologies (including switchgear components), and pricing to ensure accurate and competitive estimates.
  • Monitor team performance to ensure timely and on-budget project completion.
  • Provide technical leadership and resolve design-related challenges during project execution.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, with a proactive approach to identifying project challenges.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (preferred), Design, or related field
  • Practicing P.Eng status with APEGA is preferred
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical engineering projects, preferably with 5 years in a Senior or Lead role. Substation, utility and/or high voltage electrical engineering and design expertise is considered a strong asset
  • Strong background in electrical design, preferably with experience in switchgear design, manufacturing, or estimating.
  • Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks) and estimating tools (e.g., Bluebeam, ProEst)
  • Drive continuous improvement and standardization of design activities
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations
  • Build bench strength and scalability of the team to prepare for future growth
