Singleton Reynolds is currently looking for an experienced Law Clerk to join our Litigation Department within the Toronto office. The position requires 3 to 5+ years experience of Law Clerk experience. The successful candidate will work closely with a professional team of Lawyers and will be responsible for a wide array of legal tasks.

THE ROLE/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assisting Lawyers with all aspects of the document collection, processing, review and production processes;
  • Organizes complex, multi-party construction files;
  • Coordinates, reviews and interprets required evidence;
  • Reviews witness testimony;
  • Review documents and prepare chronologies;
  • Drafts lists of documents, correspondence, and/or pleadings;
  • Coordinates examinations for discovery and trial dates;
  • Prepares all necessary court applications;
  • Executes title searches or other necessary legal research;
  • Use litigation support and eDiscovery software (Relativity) to support legal work;
  • Assist through mediation, arbitration, and litigation process;
  • Transcript review and preparing undertaking charts;
  • Preparing cost outlines and bills of costs.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Completion of a Law Clerk program from an accredited post-secondary institution;
  • 3-5 years of Law Clerk experience, specializing in construction or general litigation;
  • Working computer knowledge including: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, Internet and litigation related software;
  • Strong technical proficiency in using eDiscovery software (Relativity preferred) to manage eDiscovery projects;
  • In-depth knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure, Class Action Proceedings, and eDiscovery process;
  • Motivated, professional, team player attitude with strong client-service drive.

SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES

  • Exceptional ability to organize complex, multi-party construction files with large volumes of documents;
  • Strong ability to review and list documents using required litigation software;
  • Highly organized with an exceptional eye for detail and a high degree of accuracy in work product;
  • Strong independent work ethic and initiative;
  • Proficient in using eDiscovery tools and legal document management systems;
  • Ability to work well within a team environment;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Sound business judgment including the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information;
  • Exceptional time-management and follow up skills;
  • A proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment.
