Classification 12, $29.26 - $30.17 per hour, as per BCGEU Support Collective Agreement. Temporary employees receive an additional $0.58/hour in lieu of benefits and 6% vacation pay included with each pay period.
Description:
NLC is looking for an energetic person to join our team of staff who organize student events, activities, and workshops. This exciting new position is aimed at enhancing NLC's ability to reach and connect with students helping shape their student experience and journey at NLC. The Student Engagement Facilitator plays a lead role for communications with students and for promotion of student events, as well as for coordination of the event and activity portfolio within the division of Educational Services. Under the direction of the Director of Student Services, the Student Engagement Facilitator will act as a liaison between the marketing department and division staff and will work closely with all project stakeholders to carry out on-the-ground event promotion and communication with students. The Facilitator will share materials created by the Marketing department with staff and students through a regular communications plan aimed at informing students about activities, events, and workshops. The communication plan will include developing, creating and coordinating sending newsletters and event-specific communication to students and staff at regularly scheduled intervals. The successful candidate will be required to map out yearly, quarterly, monthly, weekly, and sometimes daily communication plans. This role will facilitate the coordination of regular meetings between all organizers of student events, activities, and workshops across the division (which includes but is not limited to the departments of Student Services, Indigenous Education, and International Education), to ensure cohesive planning and current student event coordination occurs. Additionally, the successful candidate will help the team to refine our student engagement plan, including both program design and activity complement, through event evaluation.
As a Student Engagement Facilitator, you will also be responsible for developing and leading NLC's student leader program and will work with various staff to create student leader streams and program objectives. This program will include the development of a student influencer program to assist with on-the-ground promotion as it complements NLC's student communication efforts.
Travel will be required between the two main campuses (Dawson Creek and Fort St John).

Qualifications:
The minimum requirements of this position include:
- Post-Secondary certificate or diploma in a related field (e.g., communications, marketing, event management, etc.). Note that a combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Two years' experience in event promotion and communication and event logistics management.
- Knowledge of, and sensitivity to, the needs of a diverse student body, including the needs of students with disabilities/an abilities status, indigenous students, and those with in our multi-faith communities.
- Excellent communication skills (both written and oral), including ability to write and edit compelling and clear communications for students, with minimal oversight.
- Ability to conceive of, research, and develop content for various forms of communication, including basic post event surveys, newsletters, and emails.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite (excel, word, outlook)
- Excellent interpersonal and intercultural communication skills.
- A current, valid driver's license.
Preference will be given to those who also have:
- Experience facilitating focus groups, team meetings or other group activities. The ability to demonstrate your effective teamwork skills is essential.
- Experience in budget management.
