JOB SUMMARY:
Sagamok Anishnawbek is seeking a motivated and compassionate Youth Wellness Worker to join our Child & Youth Program. The successful candidate will engage youth aged 1224 through evidence-based programs and activities that promote holistic wellness physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.
This role focuses on prevention strategies, youth development, and community engagement. Work is conducted both independently and collaboratively under the guidance of the Child & Youth Program Manager or designate.
POSITION DUTIES:
Greet and engage community members, youth, and visitors in a respectful and professional manner.
Plan, facilitate, and coordinate evidence-based prevention workshops and wellness activities for youth and families.
Identify and implement best practices to support youth, family, and community wellness.
Coordinate youth development initiatives, including youth council and youth forums.
Support implementation of the Comprehensive Youth Development Strategy.
Collaborate with internal departments and community partners to deliver complementary and culturally appropriate programming.
Participate in planning meetings and contribute to departmental goal setting and service delivery.
Collect and report relevant demographic, health, and program data as required.
Prepare proposals for programming and funding for review and approval.
Bridge traditional knowledge and mainstream wellness approaches in program delivery.
Other duties as assigned by the Program Manager or designate.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Must be able to work flexible hours.
Knowledge and respect for Anishnawbek culture, traditions, and the Seven Grandfather Teachings.
Current CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain.
Valid drivers license and reliable vehicle.
Ability to travel and work flexible hours, occasionally on short notice.
Successful candidate must sign an annual Oath of Confidentiality.
Must provide a clear Vulnerable Sector Check before starting employment.
Six-month probationary period applies.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Post-secondary degree or diploma in Child & Youth Services or a related field.
Minimum of two years experience in a related role, preferably in human services or child and family services.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint).
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to speak and understand Ojibwe is a strong asset.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
