This newly created full-time role will be supported by a Fractional Chief Financial Officer and report directly to Co-Founders. The position will be accountable for service delivery excellence for the finance function and services of accounting, payroll, finance reporting and audit. The Controller is focused on execution and drives timely and accurate reporting in a fast moving, evolving environment. This role leads one direct report and performs GL related and other work directly and co-ordinate with payroll providers while promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement that values the organization's high standards and quality. The role will be primarily in the office near Airport, with potential of flexibility for remote work in medium term. The Individual The successful candidate will be a confident, bright and intellectually curious finance manager who is an agile thinker and can pick-up concepts and ‘connect the dots' quickly. They are resilient, not afraid of taking challenges and can be comfortable under a microscope. The ideal candidate will bring deep accounting experience in multi-entity, multi-currency environments and be precise in the execution of the day-to-day high volume transaction processing. Additionally, they will bring exceptional technical accounting and reporting, and ready to serve in a corporate controllership capacity. Given the nature of the organization, monthly and quarterly reporting is key and bringing best-in-class rigour and quality to this area is essential. They take ownership/accountability with the ability to prioritize workload to meet key deadlines including month, quarter and year-end reporting. This role will have excellent potential to grow with the organization to Controller based on performance. An active CPA, CA (Ontario) is required for this role. Qualifications for success: * 5+ years of relevant progressive financial experience, including multi-currency, multi-entity environments. * Recognized professional accounting designation (CPA, CA). * Proven ability to lead teams, implement change, and drive process improvement. * Advanced written and verbal communication skills with the ability to converse with senior business executives. * Preference will be given to those with experience logistics industry. * Proficient in MS Excel and PowerPoint. * Experience with QuickBooks Online and successful use of multi-dimensional reporting (Tags/location/department) is an asset. * Online Banking Platform integration with QuickBooks including payment processing, bank reconciliation and credit card transaction processing. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. * Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities. * Demonstrated organizational and time management skills. * Ability to think and work independently. * Highly motivated and energetic with interest in entrepreneurship, software, and growth!
