The Role

We are seeking a Casual (0.2 FTE) Echosclerotherapy Nurse. Reporting to the Ultrasound Supervisor the Echosclerotherapy Nurse will provide nursing services to echosclerotherapy patients, assist the EFW physician with procedures and provide education to patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess any changes in health history of patients at first point of contact;
  • Educate patients regarding the echosclerotherapy procedure including mapping ultrasound, sterilization of legs, placement of tourniquets;
  • Thorough review of patients histories to ensure patient remain suitable candidates for echosclerotherapy;
  • Review patient files for history of coagulation concerns/treatments, previous varicose vein treatments and responses, current treatment plan with quoted number of required treatments, and comorbid health concerns that may interfere patient ability to comply with post-echosclerotherapy care instructions;
  • Liaise with EFW physician regarding patient history, condition and procedure;
  • Ensure echosclerotherapy room is fully stocked with medical supplies for the day;
  • Assist EFW physician with the echosclerotherapy procedure;
  • Review patient post-echosclerotherapy care instructions;
  • Demonstrates EFW values of Compassion, Trust, and Meaning in the workplace;
  • Adheres to all privacy and confidentiality policies and procedures as they relate to EFW, our patients and our employees;
  • Undertakes other related duties as assigned.

You have the following

  • Registered Nurse with current College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta CARNA) in good standing;
  • CPR Level Certification;
  • Preferred Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing;
  • Preferred experience working in an outpatient setting;
  • Organized individual with the ability to multi-task and maintain a high accuracy to detailed information by processing patient records correctly and efficiently;
  • Motivated, self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as influence a team;
  • Demonstrates ability to welcome change and manage it innovatively;
  • Good work and attendance record required;
  • Professional demeanor and ability to work in a fast-paced environment;

Hours of Work

EFW is dedicated to providing quality patient care with daytime, evening and weekend clinic hours throughout all of our clinic locations. All EFW Radiology employees working in, or providing shared services to, our community clinics shall participate in being scheduled in the evening or weekend shifts as required. Our employees must also be able to work at any EFW clinic location and provide their own transportation.

At this time, Wednesday availability is required.
