Position Overview

We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Junior Landscape Designer to join our design team. In this role, you will assist in the design and implementation of projects, working under the guidance of the Landscape Architect or Senior Landscape Architect. This role involves supporting the development of design concepts, preparing detailed plans, and contributing to project management tasks.

As the Junior Landscape Designer, you will also assist with administrative duties and quality control, ensuring that all work aligns with the companys high standards for safety and innovation. The ideal candidate will have a passion for outdoor spaces and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities

Design Support

  • Assist in developing creative and sustainable design concepts for natural spaces such as playgrounds and parks.
  • Prepare preliminary design sketches, renderings, and construction documents using tools like AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Conduct site visits and gather data to inform design decisions, including site analysis of topography, vegetation, and environmental factors.
  • Collaborate with the design team to refine concepts and integrate feedback from clients and stakeholders.

Project Assistance

  • Support project management efforts by helping to track project timelines, budgets, and milestones.
  • Assist in coordinating with contractors, consultants, and suppliers to ensure project tasks are completed on schedule.
  • Participate in site visits during construction to monitor progress and ensure designs are being implemented correctly.
  • Help maintain accurate project documentation, including notes, reports, and revisions.

Administrative Duties

  • Contribute to the preparation of project proposals, presentations, and marketing materials.
  • Assist in drafting contracts and reviewing them for design-related details.
  • Participate in team meetings, providing input on design strategies and project updates.

Quality Control

  • Assist in reviewing design work to ensure it meets company standards and client expectations.
  • Help implement feedback from quality assurance reviews to improve the accuracy and effectiveness of design outputs.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing design quality and project efficiency.

Technical Skills Development

  • Provide basic technical support on aspects such as grading, drainage, planting design, and material selection.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, technologies, and best practices, applying new knowledge to project work.
  • Seek opportunities for professional development and growth within the field of landscape design.

Client and Stakeholder Support

  • Assist in preparing materials for client meetings and presentations, contributing to discussions on design concepts and project progress.
  • Help ensure that client feedback is accurately documented and incorporated into design revisions.
  • Support the maintenance of positive client relationships through responsive communication and high-quality work.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Landscape Architecture, Landscape Design, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in landscape design, with a focus on playgrounds, parks, or related projects preferred. New graduates are welcome to apply.
  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and GIS.
  • Strong creative and technical skills, with a portfolio that demonstrates design experience and a passion for nature-based projects.
  • Basic understanding of project management principles and ability to assist in managing multiple projects.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a collaborative approach to design work.
  • Knowledge of basic industry standards and best practices in landscape design.
  • A passion for sustainable design and a commitment to creating spaces that enhance community well-being.
