How You Will Make an Impact
In this role, you will work to make a difference in the lives of tenants living On-Site and scattered unit locations. Services to tenant include tenant engagement, direct service, crisis prevention and intervention, recreation and supportive counseling.
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to the mission values of availability, flexibility, adaptability, hospitality and dignity with sensitivity to the issues related to poverty, homelessness, mental illness, addictions and developmental disabilities. Must have experience in knowledge of mental health, practice skills in counseling, and direct service to people.
What You'll Bring to Our Team
- Current enrollment in (or graduate in 2025) in a social services program or equivalent.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
- Have an ability to work from an anti-racist/anti-oppressive approach
- Belief in and understanding of Recovery
- Excellent communication, team building, negotiating and problem-solving skills
- Some knowledge of community resources
- Fluency in French and/or a language in addition to English is an asset
- CPR certification or willingness to be certified is also required
- Driver's license preferred but not required
Hiring Criteria - the following criteria is established by Canada Summer Job:
This temporary full-time position is funded by Service Canada for youth between the ages of 15 to 30 years of age.
- Applicants may be more than 30 years of age at the end of the employment period as long as they were 30 at the beginning of the employment period.
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
- As per the Summer Canada Jobs Program criteria:
- International students are not eligible participants. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.
- Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible.
