How You Will Make an Impact
An opportunity currently exists in our Good Shepherd Assisted Living Program for a Nursing or PSW student/recent graduate The Personal Support Assistant preserves the dignity of clients by providing support services, personal care and home support to clients living independently in the community.
What You'll Bring to Our Team
- Current Nursing (RN/RPN) student or PSW student/recent graduate
- Personal support care experience
- Willingness & and ability to work weekends and day/evening shifts
- Demonstrated interest/experience in working with seniors
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Demonstrated flexibility in availability and assigned duties
- Must have oral and written communication skills in English
- Excellent communication, team building, negotiating and problem-solving skills
- Fluency in French and/or a language in addition to English is an asset
- Observe all Good Shepherd health and safety rules.
- Ability to use technology; computer and tablets to document care and support
- Ability to provide personal support to our clients in housekeeping, meal preparation and social visitation walking up to 25 minutes from the hub location to the client's residence
Hiring Criteria - the following criteria is established by Canada Summer Job:
This temporary full-time position is funded by Service Canada for youth between the ages of 15 to 30 years of age.
- Applicants may be more than 30 years of age at the end of the employment period as long as they were 30 at the beginning of the employment period.
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
- As per the Summer Canada Jobs Program criteria:
- International students are not eligible participants. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.
- Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible.
