As the Recreation Manager, you are responsible for providing recreation activities to promote physical, social, emotional, intellectual, spiritual and cultural needs of our residents.
Key Responsibilities
Resident Engagement & Event coordination
- Engage residents through conversation to identify recreation wants, needs, and abilities.
- Implement and coordinate programs, including transportation.
- Coordinate church services, entertainment, and special events.
- Coordinate transportation schedule and drivers' schedule for offsite activities, use company vehicle for transportation as needed.
- Coordinate a yearly schedule of special events, lead decorating for special events.
- Plans recreation calendars in accordance with Optima Living's 7 dimensions of wellness.
Administration & Compliances
- Recruit, orientate, schedule, and monitor Recreation aides and volunteers.
- Purchase recreation supplies as needed within the recreation budget.
- Prepare monthly recreations reports as required.
- Oversee the maintenance of recreation equipment and report any concerns.
- Operate in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Program Development
- Assessment and research to develop recreation plan.
- Monitor and support recreation team and/or volunteers in delivery of programs.
- Measure and evaluate success of program, redesign as needed.
- Provide training for recreation team and/or volunteers.
- Develop and implement volunteer appreciation program.
- Other duties as assigned to support operational requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience in a residential care setting is preferred
- Completion of Therapeutic Recreation program
- Recreation Therapist degree
- Registered with provincial Therapeutic Recreation association and in good standing
- Valid provincial class 4 driver's license required
- Experience with Welbi is an asset
- Completion of CPR and First Aid is an asset
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with peers, residents, visitors and operational partners
- Superior organizational skills with the ability to handle multi-resident requests
- Superior oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrate the ability to prioritize and problem solve
