Program Overview – VFX Compositor- Workforce Development, Community Programs
This digital technology program is a joint initiative of the Centre for Young Black Professionals (CEE) and WoodGreen Community Services (WoodGreen). This program is funded through the Ontario Black Youth Action Plan, (OBYAP). The target population is youth (aged 21-29) who self-identify as Black, live in priority communities, have some post-secondary education and have the aptitude and desire to succeed as digital animators/visual effects compositors. The initiative consists of 23 weeks of technical training followed by a 6 weeks job placement and ongoing employment support.
What You Will Do
  • Locate and contact potential employers and find work placement and or job opportunities for clients.
  • Performs case management duties, which include assessment, goal setting and development, case termination, and follow-up.
  • Works collaboratively with the skills training instructor and partner agency to support clients' active and successful participation in the skills training.
  • Conducts online social media and phone-based outreach activities to attract and screen clients for the program.
  • Identifies barriers to learning and/or employment and refers participants to the appropriate source of support.
  • Maintains detailed notes of client interaction, enters and manages data in online client records, and collects statistical data.
  • Liaises with community agencies and attends meetings.
  • Works with other WoodGreen staff and partner agencies in order to provide interdisciplinary support.
  • Ensures the organization's anti-racism objectives and community development principles are achieved within the program.
What You Bring to the Team
      • Undergraduate degree in Social Services or a related field(s) (e.g. Human Resources).
      • Minimum three (3) years of experience delivering employment and community-related services, ideally involving employment counselling, case management, job development, training, and assessment.
What Will Set You Apart
  • Lived experience and or experience working with youth of African descent.
  • A proven ability to work with Black youth living in priority neighbourhoods.
  • Knowledge and sensitivity to issues of a culturally diverse clientele.
  • Experience in job development, employer engagement or sales preferred.
  • Experience with outreach and program promotion.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with agency partners, stakeholders, staff and clients effectively.
  • Knowledge and experience of working within an anti-oppression and anti-racist framework.
  • Conducts ongoing research on employers and community resources.
  • Track record of successfully placing clients in employment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Teams, PowerPoint, Excel, LinkedIn), including internet research skills.
  • Knowledge and skills in the use of social resources and community development.
  • Demonstrates good organizational and time-management skills.
  • Experience with caseload and data management.
  • Able to work under pressure and meet targets.
  • Able to work remotely at a WoodGreen site or in a public location to meet with clients.
