Purpose of the Position:

This member of the Community Outreach and Support Team (COAST) has responsibility to carry out case management, psychosocial rehabilitation, crisis intervention and assessment/treatment, including intervention specific to their professional discipline. This team member has clinical skills and experiences to assess, plan, develop, coordinate, and provide treatment, rehabilitation, and support services with consumers with severe and persistent mental illness under the clinical supervision of the team leader.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Preferred qualifications include a master's level post-secondary degree in Psychology, Psychiatric Nursing, Social Work, or equivalent degree, along with current registration in good standing within their respective professional regulatory body/college, including College of Nurses of Ontario, Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, or College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
  • Minimum one year of experience preferred in providing psychotherapy with individuals with mental illness, substance use, and complex clinical presentations.
  • Knowledge and experience in assessment and treatment interventions consistent with your professional discipline
  • Experience with and enthusiasm for the ACT model balanced by a commitment to psychosocial rehabilitation principles
  • An understanding of the concept of recovery and a commitment to work for its ongoing expression in the service system
  • Experience providing case management services to those experiencing serious mental illness
  • A strong commitment to supporting the rights and abilities of all persons, including support to live and participate in a community in ways that are meaningful to them
  • Experience providing crisis intervention
  • Familiarity with and commitment to implementing standards of practice.
  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team environment in a rural setting
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of current provincial mental health and addictions policy.
  • Tolerance of and ability to handle an unpredictable heavy workload and competing demands with high risk situations
  • Participate in the CMHAMPS 24/7/365 telephone based service and respond to clients with self-identified crisis situations, as defined by the scope of practice of the program and/or service delivery model.
  • Manage internal and external relationships with empathy and compassion, to be aware of emotional intelligence, conflict resolution, and the understanding of the feelings, ideas, and beliefs of others.
  • Indigenous cultural awareness and aboriginal education is an asset.
  • Ability to use and learn new technology (computers, software programs, phones, printers/scanners, alarm/security systems, etc.)
  • Bilingual in French is an asset.
  • May be required to transport staff and/or clients of the Agency and therefore you are to hold a valid Ontario G or G2 driver's license, have a reliable means of transportation and appropriate insurance for work purposes on your vehicle and a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability coverage

Salary scale: $35.90 - $44.26 per hour (commensurate with education and experience)
