Our recruitment team is currently working with a growing production manufacturer seeking a Parts and Inventory Control Manager for the location in Pitt Meadows. The Parts Manager plays a key aspect of the production process ensuring all Department leads have access to parts and materials following the designs and specifications from clients. The right candidate must be able to thrive in a fast-paced production setting managing thousands of SKUs with strong organization, attention to detail, accuracy, and embracing continuous improvement.

This opportunity offers daytime shift times from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM Monday to Friday with opportunities for overtime. Weekend work flexibility is required, however, is very rare.

Please note, this opportunity is not accessible via transit, therefore the use of your own transportation is required.

The Role

The Parts Manager performs regular meetings with department heads to discuss adjustments to delivery schedules and provide delivery statuses on shipments. Prepares all shipping documents and labeling, performing the required quality checks on the materials, and designing packaging materials to protect products during shipment. This is a hands-on role where the Inventory Control Manager will be part of the continuous improvement initiatives for the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Designating specific areas within the storage facility for different types of parts, based on factors such as frequency of use, size, and compatibility with other items. Ensuring frequently used parts are easily accessible to reduce retrieval time and improve efficiency
  • Review project timelines and priorities with the head department leads
  • Use of internal communication tools to provide updates on parts availability and delivery statuses
  • Establish an efficient internal distribution system that can quickly transport parts from storage areas to all departments or production lines
  • Implementing quality control checks upon receipt and before dispatch of parts to ensure they meet the required specifications
  • Identify areas for continuous improvement
  • Review client specifications/drawings and work orders to ensure parts are rearranged based on priority of use; coordinating with sales and customer service to ensure that orders are processed and fulfilled in accordance with customer requirements.
  • Optimization of packing and shipping costs
  • Ensuring products are properly labeled with shipping and handling instructions, barcodes, and branding elements
  • Preparing all necessary shipping documentation such as bills of lading, invoices, and export documentation to comply with local and international shipping regulations
  • Predict inventory shortages for the team to order additional priority materials on time.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years experience in an Inventory management role preferably in the industrial and manufacturing space handling raw materials
  • Forklift operation experience is a must-have. SDCB preferably. Forklift ticketed is an asset (can re-certify in-house)
  • Previous overhead crane experience is a strong asset
  • Having a can-do and go-getter attitude, showcasing strong work initiative, and supporting various areas of the plant
  • Commanding organizational, attention to detail, accuracy, accountability, fast-learning skills, and material utilization understanding
  • Strong computing and Excel knowledge; capable of retrieving data from the system effectively
  • Ability to lift 50lbs regularly
  • Proven experience in reducing production delays by implementing effective product staging initiatives
  • Having a strong health and safety mentality, and abiding by company policies
  • Capable of working well independently with strong reliability
  • Collaborative, strong problem solver, and able to bring creative ideas
  • Comfortable working in a noisy production setting
