Position Summary:

Join our team at KCR for an exciting 8-week Summer Youth Works position, catering to individuals aged 30 and under. Work collaboratively with the Community Services Team to provide vital community information and referral supports across the Central Okanagan. As the Community Services Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Volunteer Centre and engaging in community outreach initiatives.

Reporting Structure: Reports to the Communications & Development Manager

Prime Functions:

Community Information and Referrals

  • Maintain and update the KCR Community Resources' Database
  • Create community resource publications sourced from the KCR Community Resources' Database
  • Provide information and referrals regarding community, health, and human services to individuals and organizations through telephone, email, and walk-in interactions, utilizing the KCR Community Resources' Database
  • Assist in updating non-profit professional development workshop materials

Volunteer Centre

  • Maintain and update the KCR Volunteer Database
  • Assist in the recruitment and onboarding of volunteers and organizations to the comprehensive Volunteer Database (Volunteer Connector) connecting them with volunteer opportunities in the region
  • Support organizations in posting and updating volunteer opportunities in the region

Coordination of Workshops, Outreach Activities, and Events

  • Aid in planning and coordinating non-profit workshops, including participant and facilitator recruitment and registration
  • Disseminate information within the community about KCR Community Resources' programs and other available community supports and services in the Central Okanagan
  • Organize and coordinate KCR outreach events and activities
  • Assist in planning and executing KCR events, including the annual Okanagan Volunteer Fair
  • Customize display materials and staff Community Outreach displays at various public events
  • Undertake other tasks as required to support the Community Services Department, particularly in volunteerism and community information efforts

Qualifications:

  • Post-Secondary Education in business, marketing, non-profit management, human resources, education, social sciences, or similar field of study preferred
  • Experience volunteering and/or working with volunteers
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent social media skills
  • Experience in resource development
  • Experience engaging with the public and/or providing customer service
