Hourly Wage: $27.50 - $32.50 Per Hour, depending on experience.

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Manager is tasked with overseeing and coordinating all maintenance activities for Neskonlith's facilities, infrastructure, and properties. This role involves the management of a maintenance staff team, development of maintenance plans, coordination of repairs and renovations, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. The Maintenance Manager plays a crucial role in promoting the well-being and sustainability of the community's infrastructure and will work closely with the Director of Housing and O&M to ensure the effective and efficient upkeep of community assets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Report directly to the Director of Housing and O&M to align maintenance strategies with broader housing and operations goals.
  • Oversee the day-to-day maintenance operations, including preventive maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
  • Supervise and lead a team of maintenance technicians, assigning tasks, providing guidance, and monitoring performance.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance plans and schedules to enhance the functionality and longevity of facilities, equipment, and systems.
  • Prioritize maintenance tasks based on urgency, impact on operations, and resource availability.
  • Collaborate actively with the Director of Housing and O&M and other department heads to support grant writing, funding applications, and reporting requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, work orders, equipment manuals, and inventory of spare parts and supplies.
  • Engage with various departments to understand their maintenance needs and develop effective solutions tailored to those needs.
  • Manage maintenance budgets, track expenses, and contribute to budget planning and forecasting.
  • Source and manage relationships with external contractors, negotiating contracts to align with budgetary and community standards.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations, codes, and standards.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of community equipment and systems, initiating upgrades or replacements as necessary.
  • Develop and oversee preventive maintenance programs to optimize operational efficiency.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in maintenance management.
  • Conduct regular inspections to assess maintenance needs, identify safety hazards, and mitigate potential risks.
  • Foster a culture of safety and ensure all maintenance operations adhere to established safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Participate in emergency response and business continuity planning to maintain readiness and resilience in crisis situations.

Qualifications:

  • You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in engineering, facilities management, or a related field is preferred.
  • You have proven experience in maintenance and/or construction management and have exposure to project management.
  • Proven experience in carpentry, Red Seal Carpentry designation an asset.
  • Experience working with ISC (Indigenous Services Canada), and other related Provincial and Federal Agencies.
  • Experience in grant writing and funding application processes/reporting requirements.
  • You have in-depth knowledge of building systems, equipment maintenance, and repair techniques.
  • You have familiarity with maintenance management software and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • You have excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • You have the ability to adapt to changing priorities, strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities to address maintenance issues promptly and effectively.
  • You have effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams, external contractors, and stakeholders.
  • You have budgeting and financial management skills to manage maintenance budgets and control costs.
  • You have knowledge of safety regulations, codes, and standards relevant to maintenance operations.
  • You have the ability to adapt to changing priorities, work under pressure, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • You have a physical resilience for manual labor, including lifting heavy items, bending, and prolonged standing.
  • You have a respect for confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of the job.

  • Ability to be mobile for an extended period.
  • Ability lift, carry, and manoeuvre heavy objects, up to 50 lbs.
