Our Next Mine Closure Consultant …

We have an exciting opportunity for a Mine Closure Consultant (Engineer (or EIT), Geoscientist (or GIT) to join our Operations team. This position provides a working technical knowledge to support the delivery of Okane's leading mine closure consulting services through an integrated life of mine approach. This role is open to any of our Okane offices globally.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Apply an understanding of engineering or science area of discipline and the integration within Okane core service offerings.
  • Manage or support technical interdisciplinary projects of moderate scope.
  • Prepare proficient technical and regulatory documentation and reports in area of technical discipline.
  • Lead proposals of moderate scope and provide support on complex proposals.
  • Interact competently with internal and external stakeholders of varying levels of expertise.
  • Foster and maintain client relationships.
  • Complete technical background reviews for project and conceptual model development.
  • Complete simulations of hydrologic and hydrogeologic conditions (as directed and reviewed by senior technical staff).
  • Lead project team in performing trade-off and optimization studies.
  • Participate or Lead risk workshops.
  • Plan and execute field investigations such as material sampling programs, monitoring, and construction QA/ QC.
  • Update and maintain environmental and geotechnical material databases.

Job Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (mining, civil, environmental, geo-environmental) or Geo or Environmental Science (geology, hydrogeology, geochemistry, chemistry) or similar.
  • Current registered as a Professional Engineer/Geoscientist or actively pursuing professional designation.
  • Apply technical knowledge at a working level on mine closure planning and related studies.
  • Regulatory permitting, writing and interpreting documentation is an asset.
  • Environmental assessment experience is an asset.
  • Advanced written and oral communication skills.
  • Advanced skills in the areas of project management, planning and organizing.
  • Demonstrate an ability to competently use their initiative to resolve tasks or problems that arise.
  • Demonstrate an ability to communicate clearly with colleagues and clients.
  • Actively seek personal and professional development opportunities.
