Position: Registered Practical Nurse

Competition: RPN W&C-SU

Status: Temporary Full-Time

Department: Women & Child / Surgical Unit

Salary: $33.84 to $35.97 / hour

Hours of Work: Days, evenings, nights and weekend shifts

As a member of the Patient Care Team on the Women and Children's and Surgical Services Short Stay Unit of the Hospital, the Registered Practical Nurse provides direct nursing care to patients, in accordance with the philosophy, objectives and policies and the Standards of Nursing Practice. The Registered Practical Nurse works under the direction of and in conjunction with other regulated health care professional members of the team. The RPN participates in service and hospital-wide activities and programs that model and promote a safe and healthy patient-centered environment and that contribute to quality improvement and risk management initiatives.

Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • A Registered Practical Nurse currently registered with College of Nurses
  • Successful completion of an approved Medications Administration Course consistent with the Standard of the College of Nursing of Ontario. Able to demonstrate competence in the administration of medications
  • Preference will be given to those individuals who have had related client/patient care experience in a long-term care or hospital environment and have successfully worked as a member of a workplace team
  • Experience with postpartum care and breast feeding required
  • NRP and FHS would be an asset
  • Valid BCLS and maintain throughout employment
  • Member of RPNAO preferred
