Job Title: Health and Safety Advisor

Position Summary: Reporting Directly to the Health and Safety Manager, or their designate, the Health and Safety Advisor is responsible to develop policies, procedures, and initiatives to oversee the safety management and administration of the Eskay Creek project in accordance with Skeena's safety programs, industrial best practice, and all regulatory/legislative requirements.

Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

Daily safety engagement with the sites H&S Manager and Mine Managers or their designate, for all required safety initiatives on the project

Provides direct safety oversight on all contractor's activities

Responsible for assisting in the identification of possible losses; evaluating the risk in such loss exposure; developing and implementing a plan to correct or prevent a loss and audit the plan to ensure its effectiveness; Provides daily guidance and direction in Health & Safety programs at the employee / supervisor level to ensure a common and effective approach is being undertaken

Regularly conduct training, and/or training needs assessments in safe work practices and procedures

Perform and contribute to the Site Training Plans by conducting new employee safety orientations; emergency response training; and coordination of modular training programs for the construction activities on site

Conducting follow up root cause incident investigations

Manage and support all field required Pandemic response and prevention measures

Conduct field inspections, audits, reporting and managing the corrective actions logs

Maintain all training logs and documentation associated with permits and regulatory requirements, and all safety related activities

Set-up and maintain filing system regarding worker training and safety

Manage, review, assess and / or complete job hazard analysis (JHA's) with site leadership and ensure that they are communicated, posted, and filed as required

Maintain and update as needed all JHAs for all safe work practices and equipment and utilize them in the day-to-day training

Ensure inspections by regulatory agencies are coordinated and deficiencies minimized and corrected

Assist with maintaining the Site Preparedness and Emergency Plans & Procedures

Coordinate area deficiencies and conduct documented weekly & monthly area safety inspections

Ensure that Skeena subcontractor personnel working on the property follow all Skeena safety policies and safety requirements

Review all accidents and incidents which occur in their area's responsibility

Help to establish a proactive safety culture

Advise, assist, and audit, all line management to ensure that an effective Health & Safety Management System is implemented and working

Use positive reinforcement with staff to help drive positive safety behaviors, and work on establishing and managing the Skeena Health & Safety incentive programs

Establish and encourage leading indicator programs such as near miss reporting, training, inspections, and leadership engagement programs

Is willing to travel as required to assist with the goals and objectives of Skeena's project requirements, and this may include the ability to work at other sites or the Vancouver corporate offices from time to time

Any other duties reasonably assigned by the Employer

The Ideal Candidate:

Minimum 5 years related experience, preferably in a remote worksite in the mining and/or construction industry

The Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation or equivalent would be an asset

Must have a Valid Driver's License

Must be able to pass Fit For Duty testing

Work Environment/Conditions:

This is a site-based job. Additionally, the job is in a fast-paced working environment, with having to manage multiple competing priorities. This position involves working at a remote exploration site on a two-week on/two-week off rotation.

The Eskay Creek Revitalization Project is located within the Coast Mountains of Northwestern British Columbia and Tahltan Territory. Ground transportation will be provided from local communities to the Eskay Creek camp facilities. For those applicants located elsewhere in western Canada, flight transportation from major urban centres will be provided to the Terrace or Smithers airports, from which shuttles will provide transportation to the Eskay Creek camp facilities. Travel time and expenses are subject to Skeena's Travel Policy.

There will be exposure to extreme temperatures in all seasons including working outdoors in snow, mud, ice, and water conditions, walking to and from different locations on uneven ground, prolonged periods of standing and physically handling/lifting/moving heavy objects.
