Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled in or have completed a University or College Program Engineering (preferably Transportation/Storm Water) or related discipline;
  • Valid Class 'G' Driver's license;
  • Driver's Abstract deemed as satisfactory to the Town, required to operate Corporation vehicles

JOB DESCRIPTION

Title: Engineering Technologist, Student

Position #: ST4

Department: Operations and Infrastructure

Division: Operations - Roads

Reports To: Operations Manager

Employee Group: Student

Position Summary

The position is intended to act as support roles in the Operations and Infrastructure Department, and field roles in which the successful applicants will perform investigations and inspections.

Responsibilities

  • Provides support to the Roads Technologist, Roads Superintendent and Capital Projects Manager with various tasks;
  • Supports with traffic studies, construction inspections, surveys and GIS integration, sign reflectivity and providing inputs into work management software;
  • Assists with roads maintenance program tracking and analysis;
  • Assists with ordering and compiling locate requests, creating and updating work orders and organizing engineering drawings of existing infrastructure;

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled in or have completed a University or College Program Engineering (preferably Transportation/Storm Water) or related discipline;
  • Valid Class 'G' Driver's license;
  • Driver's Abstract deemed as satisfactory to the Town, required to operate Corporation vehicles;
  • The successful applicant should possess strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to work inside and outside for long periods of time;
  • Skills and experience in administrative roles, surveying, inspecting construction works or project experience is considered an asset;
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Excel and Arcmap GIS software is considered an asset;
  • Ability to problem solve and work in a team environment;
