Position: Social Development Support Worker

Status: Full-time Term Position, 35 hours per week,

Schedule: Core hours: 8:00am-3:30pm Flexible (including evenings and weekends)

Reporting to: Director of Health

Salary: $41240 /per year

Summary of Position: The Support Worker will be responsible for supporting Neskonlith.

community by offering confidential support to help with career-related planning in job readiness,

local school enrollment and employment.

Relevant Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Neskonlith Indian Bands policies and procedures,
  • Support, negotiate, and coordinate training, job readiness, local school registration and employment opportunities,
  • Ensure all correspondence is conducted to a high professional standard and in a timely fashion,
  • Ensure all inquiries and opportunities are acknowledge and responded to,

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • A valid BC Driver's license, reliable vehicle, and willingness to travel to each of our Neskonlith communities,
  • Post Secondary experience preferred with 1-3 years of similar experience,
  • Work one-on-one with Neskonlith community members and its partners,
  • Support Neskonlith community members in identifying career direction and goals.
  • Supporting Neskonlith community members in assessing their interests and skill sets
  • Create and work through an action-oriented plan, based on identified goals with the support of the Neskonlith Employment Counsellor, in conjunction with Band Social Development Worker and the Neskonlith Health Team.
  • Current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check (vulnerable sector) required.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience in a First Nations environment and familiar with the income assistance program,
  • Good verbal and written communication skills including conflict resolution, self-motivated and good interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills to achieve desired results,
  • Strong computer skills using MS Office software.
  • Reliable, dependable, and resourceful.
