Their Integrated Renewal Program (IRP) is now focused on the journey to renew the student information ecosystem with the vision to transform the way they support learning and research, and how they work, to create a cohesive, integrated, and enriched experience for students, staff, and faculty. This implementation will result in superior support for their students, a better user experience, a new set of tools, a new way of working, and improved reporting for informed decision-making. Business Analyst II Data and Reporting leads the assessment of client needs in an effort to align business initiatives with information technology solutions. The Business Analyst, Data & Reporting will provide expertise in the areas of requirements definition, business process analysis and design, functional design, configuration, implementation, reporting, testing, training and documentation to deliver enterprise solutions to their community, with a focus on data analysis and delivery. What you will be doing:
  • Leads the assessment of client needs utilizing a structured requirements process; gathering, analyzing, documenting, and managing changes, to identify business priorities and recommends options.
  • Leads short-term planning sessions to implement integrated business process improvements and documents discussion and agreements.
  • Analyzes metrics to ensure for client satisfaction, and may prepare status report and communicate to client.
  • Develops user test cases and validates test results during user acceptance testing and system acceptance testing stage.
  • Identifies, elicits, and documents business requirements, defines business rules and communicates requirements for the implementation of business solutions.
  • Provides consultative services for the development of policies and procedures, technical guidance and leadership to others.
  • Provide insights to data modelers to ensure requirements are covered by the underlying data model.
  • Communicates with stakeholders of varying technical ability and subject matter expertise.
  • Acquire and maintain a working knowledge of the university's technical and business environment.
  • Build and maintain good working relationships with project teams, business analyst peers, colleagues, and client stakeholders.
  • Analyze and document data domains and associated reporting requirements to inform the scope and architecture of the transactional or the data platform, converting data using a variety of resources, including spreadsheets, reports and SQL for large volumes.
  • Understands key technical environments to effectively identify integration, security, scalability, and performance requirements.
What you must have:
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
  • In-depth knowledge of applications and the business requirements supporting them.
  • 5+ years of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong knowledge of data analysis.
  • Working knowledge of project management, quality assurance, change management disciplines and enterprise-wide projects
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and prioritization skills.
  • Demonstrates the willingness, ability, and enthusiasm to learn new processes, methodologies or technologies.
  • Experience facilitating groups to achieve an appropriate outcome
  • Superior interpersonal skills, proven ability to work effectively and diplomatically with a wide range of individuals
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proven experience in producing BRDs, ETL source-to-target mappings, etc.
Experience in at least one of the following areas of IT:
  • Data warehouse development
  • Software development
  • ERP implementation
  • Infrastructure
  • ITIL/ITSM
Nice to have:Experience with the following is an asset:
  • As a Business Analyst in the Information Technology sector.
  • Prior data warehouse / BI initiatives
  • Classical reporting tools (Crystal Reports, etc.) and visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI)
  • Higher education environment
  • Knowledge of data modeling (conceptual, logical)
  • Certification from a recognized professional organization or professional development provider on Professional development in business analysis and related disciplines
