Job Title: Senior Manager, Security & AccessJob ID: CV7241390810Location: Vancouver, BCOverview:Our client has embarked on a multi-year journey to transform its academic and administrative support processes and system environments for their entire community. In November 2020, they successfully went live with their new HR and Finance implementation of Workday. The Integrated Renewal Program (IRP) is now focused on the journey to renew the student information ecosystem, anchored by the implementation of Workday Student. The Senior Manager, Security and Access provides overall management and technical leadership for a major functional area with multiple lines of service. The Senior Manager provides technical and managerial leadership for multiple workstreams within Security Access Data and Reporting (SADR) function of the IRP Student. What you will be doing:
  • Manages the Security and Access function through the stages of the project life cycle, including planning, requirements gathering, vendor selection, design, business process transformation, build, roles and responsibilities definition, integration, test, training and implementation.
  • Oversees Access management deliverables for IRP Student
  • Provides oversight on goals, strategies, functions and processes to successfully manage the integration and implementation of the new system.
  • Manages project scope, governance, principles, schedules, budgets and resources.
  • Leads the development of integrated business solutions, processes collaboratively with other Security Access Data and Reporting managers and leaders within IRP Student
  • Leads and manages the assigned workstream within the IRP Student, manages the performance of the team through a group of subordinate managers.
  • Participates in the management of the matrixed, cross functional teams within Security Access Data and Reporting accountabilities.
  • Good understanding of security domains and ability to solve complex security problems
  • Provides program-wide technical leadership for complex campus-wide system design issues and leads technical team's ongoing planning and development of systems enhancements including proposed system features and integration, security, scalability and performance requirements with users, business analysts, architects and team members.
Core Duties:
  • Works with business partners and/or leadership to understand and anticipate business and IT needs of a major functional area with multiple lines of service.
  • Develops integrated strategies, operating plans, targets and measures for a major functional area and leads the day-to-day delivery of its services, programs and activities.
  • Establishes and administers functional area budgets, prepares cost/benefit evaluations and ensures for cost efficiencies.
  • Negotiates for, sources and obtains financial, physical, or human resources to support long-term projects and programs.
  • Develops and ensures systems, procedures, methods, standards and controls are created and followed which foster operational efficiency, monitor compliance, mitigate risks, and achieve functional area results.
  • Develops and implements innovative services, business solutions, and programs, provides technical leadership and oversight on projects, and collaborates with others on integrated solutions and initiatives across other administrative/academic units.
  • Develops and manages reporting Managers, team leads, professionals and other staff including selection, training, coaching, performance management and all other people practices.
  • Reviews feedback on staff as provided by the Team Lead/Manager and conducts regular meetings with direct reports and with staff within their functional area.
  • Manages the staff performance assessment process. Reviews Team Lead/Manager performance assessment feedback on staff performance and conducts regular meetings with direct reports, and quarterly meetings with all staff.
  • Provides career planning advice to staff and creates development plans to help staff achieve their career goals including assigning work which leverages their skills and capabilities and provides them with opportunities for learning.
  • Manages performance concerns and disciplinary action in collaboration with HR and, where applicable, the Director.
  • Provides guidance to Team Leads or Managers on more complex performance concerns and disciplinary actions.
  • Anticipates and analyzes trends in technology and assesses the impact of emerging technologies on the business.
  • Maintains appropriate professional designations and up-to-date knowledge of current information technology techniques and tools.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
What you must have:
  • 10 years of related experience including at least 4 years of managerial experience plus three years of specialized experience in the design and implementation of major computer systems, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience designing, developing, and implementing software solutions in an information technology environment.
  • Experience and subject matter expertise in business-aligned cyber strategy development and executing security governance and technology risk services.
  • Industry-recognized Professional Security certification (CISSP/CISM), is a plus.
  • Vendor contract negotiations and vendor management experience and assets.
  • Experience with the company's policies and systems preferred.
  • Familiar with data architecture, data governance, data warehousing architecture, different types of data modeling, data migration (understanding of data repositories; develop data profiling, quality and cleansing requirements) and reporting.
  • Data cleansing expertise to continually define, estimate, and propose solutions for functional data issues.
  • Mandatory ERP implementation understanding.
  • Ability to conduct needs analyses, plan, organize, manage, monitor, complete, and evaluate projects within allocated time and resources. Ability to effectively facilitate groups to achieve appropriate outcome.
  • Ability to develop and deliver effective presentations and workshops.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities and work under constant pressure to meet critical, time-sensitive deadlines.
