At Digital Nova Scotia, we hire great people.

Are you an experienced Senior Project Manager who thrives on processes, creative solutions and reaching deliverables? Our team is growing and we're searching for a new member to bring together our career-building initiatives alongside our talented Project Managers and their teams.

The Senior Project Manager will oversee the successful delivery of our ever-growing roster of federally funded programs, and beyond. You will be responsible for overseeing multiple high-value projects that directly impact our tech sector and those looking to join it, finding ways to strategically align activities and project teams. If you have a keen eye for detail, strong financial acumen, communication, and problem solving skills, and a proven track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget, this could be the role for you.

What does the role look like?

  • Project Planning and Execution: Oversee Project Managers driving our career-building initiatives, including project scope definition, resource planning, budget allocation, and risk assessment. Support in developing comprehensive project plans and timelines, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives, funding agreements and stakeholders' expectations.
  • Team Leadership: Foster a collaborative environment and provide guidance, support and mentorship to project team leads alongside the Director of Project & Program Delivery.
  • Stakeholder Management: Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, communicating project updates, progress and potential risks, while identifying creative solutions and opportunities for growth.
  • Risk Management: Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to address potential issues that may arise during project execution. Proactively assess and manage risks, making informed decisions to keep projects on track.
  • Budgeting & Reporting: Oversee the budgeting and reporting activities for a select number of projects, working with Project Managers to ensure their reports are accurate, address funder requirements and key performance indicators, and budgets remain on target.

What we can offer:

We're a collective of people that value one another, have a strong sense of community, and commitment to what we do. Our team culture is important to us, and we may be a little biased - but our team is pretty wonderful. As a non-profit, we work hard to ensure our team feels valued, appreciated and supported, and offer a few benefits to help show them how we feel:

  • A flexible hybrid workplace, with a combination of working from home and at our downtown Halifax office
  • Team get-togethers and activities throughout the year - we promise to keep them fun
  • A Group Health and Benefits Plan, with 100% of the monthly premiums paid by DNS
  • The opportunity to contribute ideas, creativity and input - as a team, we rely on each other to drive success in our projects/programs, and our team culture is a fundamental driver of that
  • 15 days vacation annually, in addition to paid time off over the holiday season, 2 MyTime days, up to 4 “Summer Fridays” off in July and August, and 13 public holidays
  • Access to professional development opportunities and a health spending allowance

Here's what we need:

  • 7+ years of Project Management experience, with proven ability to successfully execute complex projects
  • Confident decision-maker who brings forward new ideas
  • Problem-solver with the ability to bring forth solutions without instruction
  • Team leader with the ability to bring cohesiveness and collaboration among team members
  • Strong financial acumen to manage budgets, financial strategies and reporting requirements
  • High attention to detail that is reflected in strategies, communications, and other deliverables
  • Organizational skills with an ability to create and refine highly efficient processes
  • Strong relationship-building skills and experience leading important conversations with key stakeholders
  • Ability to work well independently, in a team, and as a leader
  • Previous experience in project management and associated budgeting and reporting

Here's what we see as assets for the role:

  • Experience working in, or with, a non-profit organization
  • An interest and excitement in the growing tech sector in Nova Scotia
  • Familiarity with submitting financial claims and reports for funding-based projects
  • Previous experience or a comfort working within; Google Workspace, Slack, WordPress, Excel, Monday.com and Asana
