JOB DESCRIPTION
The Chemical Recovery and Utilities (CRU) department is currently seeking Power Engineers with experience leading teams and/or being responsible for a work unit. As a leader within the CRU department, you will work with other staff members and unionized operators to provide the mill with all utilities required to produce a premium Kraft product. You will be responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient operation of a work unit within the CRU.
Day-to-day, you will work closely with the department day staff, which consists of Operational Superintendents of their area, Process Engineers, Maintenance, E/I, and Operations Staff within the Fibreline operational area. Together with your team, you will lead the many strategies and goals that drive safety, environment, and teamwork.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maximize operational performance and control manufacturing costs
- Set expectations and standards for your work unit
- Work with the team to drive accountability
- Ensure quality and timeliness of work is completed within budgeted parameters
- Adhere to labour contract and ensure compliance
- Communicate with other employees to help achieve and maintain smooth workflow and a high degree of productivity
- Foster an environment that is focused on safety and recommend process improvement initiatives
- Comply with all company procedures
QUALIFICATIONS
- Preference will be given to 1 st Class Power Engineer candidates. However, those with a 2nd Class Power Engineer license working towards their 1 st Class Power Engineering license will be considered.
- Education Required: Completion of College / CEGEP / Vocational or Technical Training
- Years of Experience Required:
- 5-10 years of leadership experience in an operational setting, including either power generation, pulp and paper, or oil and gas.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Problem solving skills and ability to lead and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- A strong desire to grow professionally and advance their career
