Job Description:

As a Recreation Program Leader, you will work independently and with the Bike Friendly Communities (BFC) team throughout the summer.

Some of the responsibilities you will have are:

  • Planning and leading engaging group bike rides in the Charlottetown area
  • Represent BFC at local events including ones with our partner organizations such as Cycling PEI and Reach Foundation
  • Work independently and collaboratively with the BFC to implement summer programming
  • Develop initiatives that foster community engagement, provide educational experiences,
    and offer valuable cycling-related resources to the public
  • Take a leadership role in organizing workshops, community rides, and pop-up events
  • Deliver informative sessions that enhance cycling knowledge and promote a bike-friendly
    lifestyle
  • Collaborate with partner organizations, including municipalities, to plan and facilitate
    events and programming
  • Maintain open communication channels with stakeholders, ensuring seamless
    coordination, and successful execution of initiatives

Our ideal candidate has:

Effective writing skills and excellent communication and interpersonal skills
A demonstrated ability to work well independently as well as within a team environment
Experience organizing events, creating plans, and checklists
Experience recruiting and coordinating volunteers
Experience working with social media platforms and using digital technology
Cycling ability and confidence in leading guided rides and sharing cycling knowledge with others

This position is open to candidates who are:

Between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment.
A Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment. Please note that international students are not eligible for this position.
Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
Be able to begin work on June 3, 2024
