Job Description:
We are looking for kind and understanding individuals who work as one-to-one workers during our weekend and day programs! As a one-to-one worker, you will be working with a child who is on the autism spectrum and has higher needs and more support. Our one-to-one workers must be able to adapt quickly and problem-solve.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for working with one individual during the day
- Continually encourage and keep clients active and engaged in fun and challenging activities that meet clients' needs while maintaining a safe environment
- Follow directions from management, supervisors and healthcare workers
- Follow and execute activities according to IBI or IEP (if applicable)
- Provide personal care and dietary assistance to clients
- Follow all camp policies and procedures
- Work in a team environment
- Administrative duties, as required
Qualifications
- A clear Criminal Background Check required
- Must be over 18 years of age
- Post-secondary student or graduate from a post-secondary institution and/or certificate in a related field (ie: Human Services or Educational Assistant)
- Experience working with people with disabilities, specifically those with autism
- Experience with IBI and IEPs
- First Aid and CPR are required before the job begins
- Must be available to work some weekends, as respites are two weekends per month
