Role: Community Developer (Cornwall)

Salary: £24,000 per annum

Contract: Fixed Term - 12 months - Full Time or Part Time/Job Share

About you

  • A good knowledge of cycling and/or sport and physical activity delivery and of current developments in cycling in terms of the transport, health and recreational and community agendas.
  • Experience of tutoring and/or facilitation- As required.
  • A track record in partnership working and development where partnership programme and project delivery can be demonstrated.
  • Educated to minimum GCSE standard or equivalent with significant experience of working in sports development in a predominantly volunteer led environment.
  • A current BC Ride Leader qualification or equivalent is desirable
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Package including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

What will you be doing?

  • Developing relationships with the local cycling community; maintaining, developing and co-ordinating stakeholders and communities within a designated area
  • Planning, co-ordinating and co-delivering a strategic place-based approach to cycling delivery across a partnership area(s); ensuring particular focus on adults, adults with physical or mental health issues, unemployed, and adults in the 50+ age group. Growing the organisations membership reach, helping to drive cycling participation within St Austell, Bodmin, and Penzance.
  • Through our behaviour change programmes increasing the number of people in Cornwall using cycling as a form of Active Travel.
  • Tackling inequalities through the programming and delivery of place based community programmes; ensuring the delivery of an integrated pathway of cycling opportunities
  • Supporting, and building capacity, in the volunteer network of area coordinators, leaders, and community champions enhancing engagement and providing opportunities to share best practice and adapting delivery as required.
  • Extending the use of British Cycling tools, products and services through the effective delivery of community programmes.
  • Working with other key agencies and cycling organisations to develop the community cycling pathway, raising awareness of the work of British Cycling, growing and diversifying participation and supporting more people to cycle more frequently.
