We are seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join our team!

Position Summary

As a member of Canada's finance team, the Financial Analyst will report to the Financial Controller and will have the opportunity to work with various parts of the Company, including construction project staff, pre-construction/estimating, legal and procurement. This role is a hybrid between financial reporting and financial planning and analysis, with exposure to internal controls, insurance, and tax compliance. A successful candidate is ready to make meaningful contributions to monthly forecasting, quarterly financial reporting, and annual business planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting, including the preparation of corporate yearly financial statements and disclosures following IFRS
  • Prepare project revenue and margin variance analysis to understand significant financial risks or opportunities
  • Prepare the Company's P&L and cash forecast to support the monthly Finance Committee Meeting presentation
  • Prepare the monthly Finance Committee Meeting presentation
  • Collaborate with project teams to improve the accuracy, timeliness, and quality of their 2-year cash flow forecast and internal monthly review
  • Assist with the preparation of the 5-year business plan to the senior management team
  • Assist in preparing the annual corporate tax filing
  • Maintain the internal control environment (including SOX controls) as well as suggestions for process improvements
  • Assist the central procurement department with the financial prequalification of subcontractors
  • Assist in the short/long term cash management of the business, including analyzing project cash flow forecasts to ensure the Company has an accurate understanding of expected cash flows and cash balances
  • Report precise work in progress and percentage of completion of large projects up to $300m+ for financial reporting
  • Analyze project cost reports to report KPIs, staff and labour recovery analysis, and identify any negative cost commitments to senior management
  • Assist with the external and internal audit processes
  • Ad-hoc projects and analysis as required

Education & Experience

  • An undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
  • Three to five (3-5) years of experience in finance and accounting function
  • Industry experience in real estate/construction/mining preferred
  • Experience with ERP systems (such as IFS, SAP, Oracle, Hyperion) is considered an asset

  • Requires minimal on-site visits to project locations with the possibility of exposure to hazardous materials
