Here's the job opportunity

As a Senior Accountant you will be a key member of the ivari finance team. You will lead and prepare the monthly investment close, assist in preparing investment financial statement schedules, investment regulatory reports, and industry surveys for the ivari organization. You will work primarily in a team environment that is challenging and provides the opportunity to learn and grow; and that values employees who will participate in and drive process improvement change initiatives.

You will

Lead and prepare the monthly investment accounting close by working closely with our 3rd party investment accounting partner and external custodian
Prepare monthly investment accounting entries, account reconciliations, accruals and investment variance analysis
Assist in preparing quarterly and annual financial statements, board slides, in keeping with the reporting schedule of the company
Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements disclosure schedules for our regulator, OSFI
Prepare monthly, quarterly, annual industry and government surveys and questionnaires
Lead and prepare the annual pension statements by working closely with our external pension partners
Maintain and improve the ivari control environment by assessing and improving key controls
Work with our internal and external auditors on gathering audit evidence to support financial statements
Participate in ad-hoc requests, projects and process improvement initiatives geared towards improving financial reporting workflow processes

What we are looking for

Professional accounting designation (CPA)
University degree preferably in a Business/Finance capacity
4 to 5 years of financial close and reporting experience with investment accounting knowledge
Knowledge of financial systems such as Oracle, Workiva, and Clearwater Analytics
Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and adaptable to changing priorities
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Systems savvy with a good understanding of reporting and analytics applications
Strong Excel, including the ability to build and use pivot tables
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Strong attention to detail and proven ability to provide insightful, accurate and timely analysis
Highly motivated with a desire to be successful and learn
Knowledge of IFRS standards related to investment accounting
Strong process skills (ability to break down and improve workflow) would be an asset
