Job Description: Underwriter Assistant

  • Duration: Contract 3 months (potential extensions) Starting June 2025
  • Location: Downtown Toronto, Remote/Hybrid

Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Underwriter Assistant to join our client's team of Commercial Property & Casualty Underwriters. In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting the underwriting process by gathering essential data, preparing documents, and ensuring accurate documentation of underwriting decisions. Responsibilities:

  • Data Gathering: Retrieve relevant information from various internal systems, databases, and external sources.
  • Document Preparation: Create and organize documents based on the gathered data, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Underwriting Team to provide them with the necessary information for documenting underwriting decisions.
  • Technical Proficiency: Utilize internal systems efficiently and demonstrate proficiency in MS Excel for data analysis and presentation.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and adherence to established guidelines.
  • Time Management: Prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines and contribute to the team's success.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 3+ years of experience as an underwriting assistant supporting commercial P&C Underwriters.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in using internal systems and databases.
  • Strong command of MS Excel for data manipulation and reporting.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Team Player: Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Adaptability: Willingness to learn and adapt to changing requirements.
