Position Title: Coordinator, Program and Fundraising

Salary: Wage Grade 9 - Step 1 $27.18/HR (CUPE 2998)

Benefits: Mandatory benefits only

Hours: 8:30 am to 5:00pm. Some evenings and weekends. 40 hours per week

Accountability: Program Director

Function: The Program Development and Fundraising Coordinator is responsible for two keys areas: 1) working closely with the Program Director, help coordinate the planning, development, and day-to-day management of Centre 55's community programs and 2) develop and coordinate Centre 55's fundraising efforts to secure the resources needed to advance the organization's work and increase its exposure.

PURPOSE & MANDATE:

Community Centre 55, otherwise known as Centre 55, is an agency of the City of Toronto and a registered charity serving the Beaches-East York community since 1975. Centre 55 offers a variety of adult educational and recreational programs and is a multi-site licensed child care provider serving the needs of families with children ages 18 months to 13 years.

Centre 55 also runs a very popular summer camp program for children aged 5 to 12 years old; it is the lead organizer of the Beaches Santa Claus Parade; and has a long-standing Share A Christmas program, which donates grocery gift cards and unwrapped toys to local families in need.

PROGRAM DUTIES:

Working closely with the Program Director, coordinate the planning, development, delivery and ongoing support for a broad range of community, social, educational and recreational programs at Centre 55

Oversee the Counselor in Training (CIT) program including recruiting, maintaining, training, utilizing and evaluating program participants

Liaison with program partners for the coordination and delivery of programs

Assist with the development and coordination of strategies including: advertising, media relations, public relations, customer service and merchandising (including print design for all promotional and collateral materials) related to program development and delivery

Provide support to Operations Manager with walk-in inquiries during peak times, if the need arises

Provide support to the Program Director, Executive Director and Coordinator of Volunteers and Special Events with social media posts

Foster and maintain long-term relationships with individual members, businesses and local community organizations located within our designated catchment area

Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

FUNDRAISING DUTIES:

Oversee the planning, management and execution of annual fundraising events/campaigns

Assist the Program Director in the development of compelling proposals and other materials for grant applications

Solicit funds and pledges by completing applications; answering inquiries; mailing literature to prospective donors

Work closely with the Program Director and Executive Director to develop a comprehensive communications plan to promote the organization to its donors and maximize public awareness of the fundraising activities of the organization

Prepare high-quality donor communications materials that demonstrate deep knowledge of the organization's programs and promote its Mission, (e.g. solicitation materials, thank you letters, annual reports)

Foster positive relationships with key stakeholders and partners and develop these relationships for future fundraising opportunities;

Assist the leadership team in preparing fundraising reports and materials for the Board of Directors, and supporting directors' fundraising efforts

Research and align grant applications to meet Centre 55's needs and priorities

In collaboration with the Coordinator of Special Events and Volunteer Coordination, engage volunteers to support, initiate and facilitate fundraising campaigns and events

Maintain a solid understanding of regulatory requirements, current best practices, rules, policies, guidelines and procedures related to fund development activities

Maintain accurate records of donor information to facilitate donor engagement efforts

Actively seek to deepen current donor relationships and forge new ones

Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

QUALIFICATIONS:

University degree or college diploma with a concentration in human/social services, marketing, business management, communications or related program is required

At least two years' work experience in social service work, community development and/or at least two years' work experience in a not-for-profit development role with a demonstrated track record of meeting fundraising goals and objectives

Strong research and project management skills including the definition of project purpose, milestones and deliverables and monitoring and tracking progress

Strong understanding of fundraising strategy and how to deploy these concepts through various mediums

Experience with not-for-profit grant writing and individual giving programs is an asset

Effective communicator and motivator with strong interpersonal and organizational skills

Ability to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends/holidays

Experience working the diverse community groups and individuals

A dynamic and flexible individual with the ability to work independently in a potentially fast-paced, multi-task environment

Ability to effectively use social media for marketing and promotion

Computer skills and AV equipment including MS Office, word, excel and power point

Ability to write proposals for fundraising

Must have a valid class G driver's license in good standing

Pass a vulnerable sector criminal background check

Knowledge of the Toronto Beach area an asset

Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director
