POSITION SUMMARY
This role supports the Traffic and Customs Coordinators in ensuring the timely and efficient movement of inbound and outbound materials between New Flyer and MCI and suppliers. Responsibilities include coordinating expedited freight, tracking shipments, ensuring customs compliance with Canadian, U.S, and international regulations, negotiating transportation rates, and facilitating final vehicle deliveries. The position may also involve special projects and process improvement initiatives.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Support suppliers, Purchasing and other departments with normal and expedited freight coordination
- Coordinate goods and bus movements with traffic service providers, ensuring customs and carrier compliance
- Process and follow up on carrier claims
- Track shipments upon request from internal stakeholders
- Process freight invoices and assign appropriate GL codes for approval
- Consolidate freight data and generate regular reports
- Respond promptly to requests from government agencies
- Support brokerage providers with documentation and compliance issues
- Update Oracle with customs data (e.g. tariff codes, country of origin)
- Maintain and communicate freight routing details with suppliers
- Ensure compliance with provincial safety, environmental and health regulations
Requirements
- Post-secondary education in Supply Chain and Logistics
- Completion of CSBC Course or a recognized transportation course considered an asset
- 3+ years of Traffic and Customs experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong communication skill, oral and written
- Proficient in MS Excel
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Highly organized with a sense of urgency and hands-on approach
