POSITION GOAL:
To lead the manufacturing cell in reaching output requirements through the efficient use of provided resources by following documented processes. Support the key operating principles of Safety, OPEX, our lean journey, continuous improvement of our employee's, our process, and our product. Maintain a high standard of Quality in meeting our customer expectations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Support all company safety initiatives. Conduct weekly safety walks, enforce all safety policies, ensure all employees are trained in safe work procedures, submit hazard and spill reports as required.
- Support and lead NF OPEX initiatives through both weekly 5S and monthly world class audits, Maintaining the housekeeping checklists and coordination of continues improvement activities.
- Maintain the quality output of the cell, facilitate, and lead the self-inspection process, support the management of material through the MRB/NCP review following up on all rejected material from the cell.
- Support and lead all quality training and OJT to ensure all required material and tools are available to support first time quality.
- Lead the manufacturing cell by coordinating the daily cell meeting with a focus of achieving the goal of 100% build in station, efficiency, and safety requirements. Present the result and corrective action based on the weekly review of the cell metric results. Ensure active participation from the supporting department of Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, and the Material group.
- Maintain the production schedule through the coordination of both in station and out of station requirement, Scheduling of overtime as required, cross training the employees to always ensure adequate levels of availability. Attend both SWAT and Pre-production meeting, coordinate ECO completion as required.
- Manage the cell budget.
- Interface with other cells and departments i.e. – Engineering, Quality Assurance, the Material group, and Human Resources to resolve issues affecting the performance of the cell or the condition of the product, all to support build in station requirements.
- Daily report out of the condition of the cell, including out of station hour utilizing live bus and the dispatch, unexpected issue and delays, bus move status and recovery plan including overtime as required.
- The management of personnel issues, conduct daily Stand-Up Meetings, respond quickly to all employees' concerns, document and conduct employee reviews on time, maintain employee time and attendance records, conduct discipline meeting as required, maintain a visual vacation schedule in the cell, support training needs and requirements. Interact with the HR dept as required to address employee's issues as required. Support the hiring process as required.
- Support the administration of the Collective Bargaining Agreement – ensure compliance is maintained, understand the Cell Leader role in the grievance process.
- Oversee and ensure required training and certifications are established and maintained.
Requirements
- 3 to 5 years of Supervisory experience in a Manufacturing environment.
- Must have good people skills.
- Must have good oral and written communication skills.
- Must be able to monitor and control many different tasks.
- Must have medium level computer skills.
- Must have a good mechanical aptitude.
- Must be able to read blueprints.
- Must have a good mechanical aptitude.
- Understanding of electrical, diagnostics, motor vehicle, bus commissioning requirements and a background in industrial / automotive paint finishing would be an asset.
- Positive individual willing to accept challenges in a fast-paced environment.
- Maintain high level of professionalism when dealing individuals and problems.
- Promotes a team environment.
- Willing to participate in brainstorming activities as part of problems solving process.
- Goal orientated and motivation to achieve Tasks within set timelines.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to function within a manufacturing environment.
