Reporting to the Controller, you will lead a team of finance professionals responsible for delivering quarterly and annual financial reporting requirements, including financial statements, Management Discussion & Analysis (MD&A), regulatory filings, and audit-related activities. This is an opportunity to combine technical accounting expertise, leadership, and stakeholder collaboration to influence key business outcomes and help maintain the organization's strong financial governance framework.

Key elements of this role include:

  • Provide technical accounting leadership by researching accounting standards, assessing reporting implications, and developing compliant financial disclosures.
  • Oversee financial reporting activities, including both routine and ad hoc reporting requests that support management decision-making.
  • Design, maintain, and strengthen Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR) and support compliance with SOX requirements.
  • Provide oversight of financial reporting activities for Wasoqonatl Transmission Inc. and support effective financial management of the Wasoqonatl Transmission Line project.
  • Manage regulatory financial reporting obligations and contribute to financial aspects of regulatory proceedings.
  • Lead pension accounting activities, including collaboration with actuarial advisors and oversight of annual pension financial statements.
  • Coordinate quarterly reviews, annual audits, and statutory audit requirements while fostering productive relationships with external auditors.
  • Build strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to support reporting, compliance, and business objectives.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of finance professionals while promoting collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

These skills will make you successful:

To thrive in this role, you recognize yourself in most of the following competencies and skills listed below:

  • 6-10 years of related accounting experience, with a minimum of 2 years of experience focused on public company disclosure and reporting requirements.
  • Progressive accounting and financial reporting experience, including experience with public company disclosure and reporting requirements.
  • Strong experience preparing and reviewing financial statements, MD&A, and related disclosures.
  • Solid understanding of financial reporting standards, technical accounting research, and disclosure requirements; knowledge of U.S. GAAP is an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering accurate, high-quality work.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and complex reporting cycles.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across business functions and with external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, including the ability to motivate, coach, and develop team members.
  • Experience with financial reporting and consolidation systems including Cognos Disclosure Management and Hyperion Financial Management, is considered an asset.
