Help Build the Future of the Arts in Fredericton

The Fredericton Playhouse is entering an exciting new chapter as we prepare to move into the Hawkes Centre for the Arts in 2027. This transformational facility will become a major cultural hub for our region, and we're seeking a Finance & Administration Manager to help support the organization through this period of growth and change.

This is an opportunity to apply your financial and administrative expertise in a purpose-driven, community-focused non-profit organization. Your work will directly support live performances, arts education, community engagement, and cultural development while helping shape the operational foundation of one of New Brunswick's leading arts organizations.

The Position

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Finance & Administration Manager is responsible for the organization's accounting, payroll and benefits administration, financial reporting, compliance filings, audit preparation, and general administrative operations. The position plays a key role in maintaining strong financial stewardship while supporting the day-to-day success of the organization.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking, reconciliations, and financial record management.
  • Payroll, benefits, pension administration, and employee record management.
  • Financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and audit preparation.
  • Government remittances and regulatory filings.
  • Financial administration related to ticketing, rentals, grants, artist contracts, and organizational operations.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A diploma, certificate, or degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field. A CPA designation or progress toward a CPA designation is considered an asset.
  • Several years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, financial reporting, financial administration, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of financial controls, budgeting, and audit processes, especially in the non-profit sector.
  • Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, payroll systems such as ADP Workforce Now, and advanced spreadsheet applications.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • An appreciation for the arts and the role that cultural organizations play in building vibrant communities.

What We Offer

  • Starting Salary: $61,901 - $80,473 annually, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, pension, and paid leave benefits.
  • A lively, collaborative and supportive workplace culture.
  • The opportunity to contribute to a landmark transition into the Hawkes Centre for the Arts.
  • Flexible work arrangements, including a combination of on-site and remote work, where operational requirements permit.
  • A 35-hour work week with a strong commitment to work-life balance.
