Mount Saint Vincent University invites applications for the position of Director, School and Child Clinical Psychology Training Clinic (the "Director"). This new training clinic is associated with the Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) in School and Child Clinical Psychology program, which emphasizes the practitioner-scientist model of training, and admitted its first cohort of students in September 2026. The position of Director is a full-time position, which reports to the Dean of Education. This position will have a dotted-line reporting relationship to, and will coordinate duties of the clinic in collaboration with, the Director of Training and the training committee for the PsyD program.

The training clinic features heavily in the training model for the PsyD program. The Clinic will host the initial assessment and intervention practicum experiences for all PsyD students. Each annual entry cohort has a capacity of eight students. Additional practicum experiences will be created at the training clinic for upper-level students by the Director and other clinic psychologists in consultation with the Director of Training and the training committee.

The Clinic will employ additional registered psychologists, as well as the Director. The training clinic will also be home to four full-time predoctoral residency positions within the next four years. The successful candidate for the Director position will be involved in the selection process for the registered psychologists and will have the chance to lead these initiatives to shape the clinic's model of care and, with the Director of Training and the training committee for the PsyD program, develop a model of training that supports students' learning about providing clinical services across multiple systems (e.g., schools, health, mental health, justice) that children, adolescents, youth, and their families might be in contact with.

Responsabilités

The Director will oversee the day-to-day operation of the training clinic, including processes related to scheduling, staffing, and record management. They will also manage the clinic budget and acquire necessary materials for the clinic's functioning. The Director will have supervisory responsibility for other psychologists working in the training clinic and for the clinic's administrative assistant. The Director will also have primary responsibility for developing and maintaining relationships with community referral partners.

The Director will support supervision activities for assessment and/or intervention practica. The Director may be called upon to provide some direct assessment and intervention services as required for training purposes and/or continuity of care. The Director will serve on the PsyD program training committee to support the integration of coursework and practical experiences across the curriculum and throughout all years of the program. As the training clinic is publicly funded by the Province of Nova Scotia, the Director will play a key role in required, cyclical government reporting.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have earned a doctoral degree in school and/or child-focused clinical psychology from a CPA or APA-accredited, or equivalent program, which will have included a one-year predoctoral residency. If the degree program is equivalent to a CPA or APA-accredited program, the predoctoral residency must be CPA or APA-accredited. Applicants must be registered or eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia Regulator of Psychology (NSRP) and have liability insurance as required for registration. The successful candidate will have a minimum of three years of experience in the provision of psychological services for children, adolescents, and/or youth, and their families.

As the successful candidate, you will be knowledgeable about and/or have experience with multiple systems (e.g., schools, health, mental health, justice) that children, adolescents, youth, and/or their families might be in contact with. Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate knowledge of and/or who have some experience working within school systems.

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate their experience conducting psychological assessments for a broad range of concerns related to learning, behaviour, and mental health, as well as providing individual and group intervention to children, adolescents, and/or youth, and their families. The successful candidate will be familiar with a range of assessment and intervention strategies and consultation practices that are evidence-based and aligned with research-informed best practices. Experience providing care to clients from a range of diverse backgrounds and experiences will be considered an asset.

The successful candidate will have experience with supervision of graduate students who are providing psychological services. Experience with supervision in a university setting is preferred. Experience with working with a team to provide training and supervision to students will be considered an asset.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate experience with developing and maintaining relationships with community partners. Experience managing a psychology training and/or outpatient clinic, experience with electronic record keeping and data management, and familiarity with CPA accreditation standards and processes will be considered an asset.
